NICK GENTRY

This week, we show the work of an english artist. That uses old digital material as base to is paintings. Making an original and different approach to the image that he paints.

Nick Gentry is a British artist from London. Much of his artistic output has been generated with the use of contributed artefacts and materials. He states that through this process "contributor, artist and viewer come closer together". His art is influenced by the development of consumerism, technology and cyberculture in society, with a distinctive focus on obsolete media.

He is best known for his floppy disk paintings, placing an emphasis on recycling and the reuse of personal objects as a central theme. Such artistic works of social commentary have been featured in galleries in the UK, USA and in cities throughout the world. His work has been exhibited alongside established street artists and as such has been linked to the urban art scene in London.

CONOR HARRINGTON

Black Herds Of The Rain from Andrew Telling on Vimeo.

Born 1980 in Ireland and based in London, studied Art and Design, he´s work combine street art and fine art, that gives singular view of urban expression. The urban culture is the base of is projects, where the male figure is the center. Showing the roll that man has on this culture. On Connor’s works you can see that that graffiti doesn't need to shock to have a big influence on street art.

ANDREW YOUNG

His work is characterized by a deep reflection on values related to our youth. And that is related to the fact that the youth act upon impulses that are related to this phase of our life.

Technically the artist characterizes his work as a combination of hyper-realism and abstraction. In order to create a fusion between the real and intangible.

KEVIN CYR

Kevin Cyr born in Edmundston, NB, Canada, in 1976

He work's spread in many group exhibitions around EUA, and abroad. And is well know for themes about vehicles that characterized America. But he also work in others directions to, as you can see, on he's work "HOME IN THE WEEDS".

This Statement was taken from his web site.

"In a culture in which people are easily lured by the appeal of status-enhancing symbols, I find beauty in derelict cars and unkempt landscapes. I have always been interested in painting vehicles and scenes that have defined the evolution of the American landscape.

I commemorate commercial vehicles inundated with graffiti and rust, working vehicles, and well-traveled recreational vehicles. I find that there is so much character in old delivery trucks and vans — especially when covered with graffiti — and in the old RVs parked off a main road. Removing them from their everyday context gives them portrait-like importance. I paint with devoted attention to every imperfection and sign of age.

Painting and drawing these objects gives me a chance to document a time and place, and to make still a part of the ever-changing environment."

You can see more of his work on here.
